Authorized Access
Access to working areas is limited to authorized personnel and staff.
Test Request Documentation
Forms are to be completed and signed by the authorized officer except where system-generated, with relevant clinical history and provisional diagnosis provided.
Specimen Identification
Collected specimens must be properly labeled, managed and dispatched through the system before laboratory processing.
Safe Transport
Specimens are to be sent in the appropriate container or collection tube and placed in a biohazard bag with request documentation where applicable.

Safety Measures
Strict safety measures are practiced as outlined in the Laboratory Safety Manual. Clients are also expected to follow safety requirements to reduce potential hazards to laboratory personnel.
Blood Collection
Venous blood is preferred, correct volume is emphasized, and careful collection/transfer is required to reduce hemolysis.
Results & Reports
Results are released through the medical center information system after verification, with special handling for confidential results. During system downtime, hard-copy results can be made available for collection.
Confidentiality
The service oath specifically requires confidentiality and secrecy of patient information.
